Forecasting countries' gross domestic product from patent data

چکیده

Recent strides in economic complexity have shown that the future development of nations can be predicted with a single “economic fitness” variable, which captures countries' competitiveness international trade. The predictions by this low-dimensional approach could match or even outperform based on much more sophisticated methods, such as those International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, all prior works aimed to quantify fitness from World Trade export data, without considering possibility infer potential for growth alternative sources data. Here, motivated long-standing relationship between technological and growth, we aim forecast patent Specifically, construct citation network countries European Patent Office (EPO) dataset. Initial results suggest H-index centrality is candidate gauge national performance. To validate conjecture, two-dimensional plane defined GDP per capita, use forecasting method dynamical systems test predicting accuracy H-index. We find H-index-GDP IMF approximately 35%, they marginally extracted trade Our inspire further attempts identify predictors different data related scientific innovation.

Vector Autoregressive Model Selection: Gross Domestic Product and Europe Oil Prices Data Modelling

We consider the problem of model selection in vector autoregressive model with Normal innovation. Tests such as Vuong's and Cox's tests are provided for order and model selection, i.e. for selecting the order and a suitable subset of regressors, in vector autoregressive model. We propose a test as a modified log-likelihood ratio test for selecting subsets of regressors. The Europe oil prices, ...

Estimation of Gross Domestic Product of Iran (1906-1935)

This paper provides a brief technical survey of the historical national accounts of Iran. Gaining access to longer-term time series in compliance with concepts, classifications and standards comparable to the present one help fulfill quantitative studies in the area of business cycles. Despite the shortage of reliable, standardized and classified information, the methodology applied in thi...

Effect of Aging on Health Expenditure and Gross Domestic Product in Selected Countries by A Dynamic Panel Approach

Background: An increase in the aging population can affect economic growth and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by reducing labor supply, reducing productivity, and increasing burden on the population. The current study aimed to explain the economic effects of aging and examined the relationship between aging, health expenditure, and GDP.   Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducte...

A multifactor approach to forecasting Romanian gross domestic product (GDP) in the short run

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the application of a generalized dynamic factor model (GDFM) based on dynamic principal components analysis to forecasting short-term economic growth in Romania. We have used a generalized principal components approach to estimate a dynamic model based on a dataset comprising 86 economic and non-economic variables that are linked to economic output. T...

Relationship between food polyamines and gross domestic product in association with longevity in Asian countries

The relationship between gross domestic product (GDP) and dietary profile, with a focus on polyamine intake, was investigated in 35 Asian countries. Data on food supply, GDP, and health condition were collected from databases of the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Health Organization, respectively. The amount of polyamine intake from food was estimated using polya...
